Written Off For Dead, Immigration Reform Could Still Live On
The Washington Examiner ^ | Thursday, October 17, 2013 | Byron York

SNIP

"There is still a window," says one House GOP aide involved in crafting a reform proposal. "The leadership has said keep working on it and see what you can do."

SNIP

That skepticism is probably shared by a large number of House Republicans, perhaps enough to kill any reform proposal. But the reformers, led byObama, are still trying. They have the Senate bill in their pocket. They have nearly unanimous Democratic support plus a significant number of Republicans. They have the support of powerful interest groups. And they have money, money, money.

At a recent Congressional Hispanic Conference meeting, Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth, of Kentucky, noted that the forces of comprehensive immigration reform include vastly wealthy businesses willing to spend big to win. And the other side? "There is no money on the other side of the issue," Yarmuth said. "There is nobody out there ready to spend $100 million against this." For the pro-reform side, supporters like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg -- who wants looser visa standards for foreign high-tech workers -- can rustle up that much with the help of a few Silicon Valley friends.

An initiative with that much money and that much clout behind it can never be dismissed. Which means that even if comprehensive immigration reform appears to be dead, its opponents can never, ever assume the game is over.

I cannot believe that our party has such a self destructive urge that it would even consider this. They are idiots!

I hope not. Unless immigration reform means enforcing existing law.

Once Boner and McConnel get to negotiating this issue, we can expect everyone to have to get a green card so the “immigrants” don’t feel out of place here. We can make it part of Obamacare.

That isn't encouraging.

“I cannot believe that our party has such a self destructive urge that it would even consider this.”

Its because the GOP has largely sold out to the corporatists. They simply no longer give a damn about the average taxpayer.

They also have no interest in winning a national election any longer. They also really do not want a majority in Congress. They are not interested in running anything because it would require them to lead. Why bother when you can go along to get along and not take any heat. They are masters of political theater.

Simply look back at all the opportunities they had when in the majority especially in the Senate. They sold out and pissed away every chance to make radical changes to the Democrats.

Trent Lott, Jim Jeffords, Mitch McConnell, McCain, Graham, and the list goes on and on. They are nothing but big spending, Rockefeller Republicans.

The GOPe is nothing more than a placeholder or figurehead party now. And that’s the way they like it. The party has no soul.

They fight against and attempt to destroy members of there own party who dare to question the status quo. The Democrats on the other hand get total capitulation. This should tell you all you need to know about the GOPe.

We will see immigration-reform clashes in the streets within weeks, just sit back and watch. With the MSM’s help, the strategy worked with the govt shutdown and the GOPe caved. Now we’ll see it tried with immigration “reform.” If it works so well, why change it?

We need to start documenting the process. I’ve already seen 4 “immigration-reform” articles in the last 3 days that are focusing on the street protests by this nutcase in San Antonio who wants to “reclaim Texas because it was stolen” from him.

Marxists are so predictable. But thanks to social media, the masses are waking up to their Chicago bully tactics. If we do not stand up against tyranny, we will deserve what we get. Never. Give. Up.

Boehner should just leave any Immigration bill in the hopper like Hairy Reid does. Then when he is asked why he is doing that say”I think the American people are worn out after the Cr and debt ceiling and the failure of Obama’s failed healthcare rollout. This mess alone is about all they can tolerate at this time, now that is why and don’t ask me again. I think I have made this perfectly clear.”

That is what we get for lowering their taxes. The more we lower their taxes and then the more they get from government largess the more the latter equation dominates. A generation ago most corporate exec’s were had middle class roots that also is no longer true and frankly conservatives are a middle class based philosophy. If the corporations are going to buddy up with the Dem’s then maybe we should buddy up with Reid and company and hold them to their promise to tax the rich. It would be very interesting to see what happened wouldn’t it. I think we should tax the rich lib’s who own the media and the Rich Repub’s who refuse to own media.

So the Crimmigrants rioting in Tucson the last couple of days should be happy to hear this. Means they win.

I’m sure they’ll show their gratitude to the GOP post haste.

By burning their house down.

Rand Paul’s immigration speech

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

I don’t believe ‘business interests’ are spending big bucks for amnesty. If a business (farm for ex.) is dependent on ultra low wage workers, why would they ever want to make them a citizen and pay them two or three times more?

No, the so-called big money business interests are little more than Soros clones and can be characterized as anti-American/NWO zipperhead types.

We already have laws. We need to enforce them. The Federal government is unable/unwilling to protect our borders, which is its primary duty, and unable to deport the illegal aliens. Yet is is determined to meddle in our health care - a much more complex issue.
