On Thursday, President Obama took to the White House podium to triumphantly announce the end of the government shutdown. In doing so, he proclaimed that he wanted to push forward with other legislative priorities, including a budget, immigration reform, and the long-stalled pork-laden farm bill. “[I]n the coming days and weeks, we should sit down and pursue a balanced approach to a responsible budget, a budget that grows our economy faster and shrinks our long-term deficits further,” Obama stated. Historically, “balanced” has been code for tax increases.

Rand Paul’s immigration speech

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

It is depressing. The other side never quits until they achieve their objective. The law of the land is never an impediment. It is only the law of the land when it is their law.

And this current effort is well-funded and orchestrated. Take a look at this:

They're Not Going To Take It Anymore: New Generation Of Immigrant Advocates Take Radical Approach

Look for some Alinsky style demonstrations and tactics to place even more pressure on the Reps. The next few weeks will see an increase in activity directed against Reps. Obama gave the signal today.

It is David against Goliath. We are losing. Unless we change the paradigm, it is only a matter of time.

For probably the first time in history, the Democrats tell the truth. The only question is when will Boehner cave.

Agree 100%, Europe sees the same witha Muslim invasion.

To really hurt Dems would be to kill amnesty but at the same time get Hispanics to at least blame the failure on Obama so they stay home on election day

So they dont vote in large #s like they did in 2012 in some swing states or come out to defeat Angle in NV

Its a hell of a climb agreed.

I saw that on Drudge. Public demonstrations won’t sit well with citizens. The one on the mall was appalling, especially the timing.

Agreed. The foremost function of the federal government is to protect us from foreign invasion and yet, they want to pass legislation and welcome it. I call that treason at the highest level.

Corporations don’t get to pull the lever though, let alone require customers.

I’m not too sure a year ‘til the election will fog anyone’s memory this time (I HOPE).

If an amnesty passes, then it really won't matter about future elections. Iacta alea est.

Concur. They’ll be pushing hard from now until ‘14 when, I hope, the People wake the f* up and toss out the career politicians.

What I don’t get, however, is why the corporations want to depress wages in this country by allowing 30 million illegals in. Who the f*ck will buy their products then? Or are they only after the billions of customers in India and China? We helped them build their conglomerates, but now we don’t matter anymore?

Lower wages mean bigger profits. Most of them can sell their products and they will have 33 million new customers who will need food, shelter, and consumer goods. Yes, per capita, they may buy less, but their numbers will increase GDP. The pie will grow bigger, but everyone will have a smaller slice.
