Despite presiding over a chamber that nearly drove the country to a debt default, John A. Boehner still has the enduring support of a group that wouldve been most harmed by that event: the business community.
Rather than revisit their strategy of supporting Republicans after this weeks near-disaster, influential organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are standing behind Boehner.
More importantly, Boehners friends in the business community are getting ready to take sides in a few Republican primary races against tea party candidates in Michigan, Idaho and Alabama who could cause the House speaker more trouble.

Many people love to use government to protect their businesses from competitors or to get taxpayer funded stuff. Economic development is all the rage, and that amounts to taking money from people to bribe companies to hire people or to re-locate their business. It’s all a con, and every town, city, and state has a staff of planners and econ development people who are paid to take nice trips and schmooz with people. Central planning always fails.
Nobody talks about what people would have done with the money if they had been allowed to keep it.
And remember, Obamacare was endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce.
Whaddaya know. Look at this list of events on the NAWD’s home page:
NAW Billion Dollar Company HR Roundtable November 5th-6th, 2013
NAW Billion Dollar Company Operations Roundtable November 5th-6th, 2013
NAW Billion Dollar Company Chief Legal Officer Roundtable November 5th-6th, 2013
NAW Large Company CFO Roundtable November 13th-14th, 2013
It’s a trade organization(read: corporate cronyism lobbying group) for big business. Of course they’re for the GOPe brand of big government, amnesty, etc..
Here is what we have learned after we changed to Independent after 30 years Republicans. We did this last year after the fiasco in the elections here in New Mexico. First we got a phone call from the local Republican Party asking why we had changed our registration. The worker was then trapped and had to listen to our complaints. Secondly we got to call them and bitch about the donation request after the first one came in. That stopped all of them.
It may not mean crap here in NM but it sure made our life a whole lot calmer. And the Libs do not pick a fight with us anymore.
It’s the Washington Compost - the mouth piece of the DNCC.
Lie #1: a group that wouldve been most harmed by that event: the business community.
There wasn’t ever a real threat of default and there can’t be. It’s a twofer, because businesses in general would do better with less government by both cost and scope/size.
If you could permanently cut $250 billion from the budget you could eliminate the corporate income tax and free churches and any other corporate group from government interference.
Can you find more lies?
I think we need to start with capitol hill staffers.
People have this fantasy that they’re a bunch of fresh faced kids just out of college but the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. For instance, John McCain’s former legislative director went directly from McCain’s office to become VP of Lockheed Martin for a few years and is now GOP staff director for the Senate Armed services committee.
Let him know how you feel about him comparing Americans to Muslim extremists...
To reach Dirk Van Dongen: dvandongen@naw.org
You need to perm cut about 1 trillion from the budget
That starts with social security, medicare, medicaid and any other generational theft items
More on this scumbag...
Dirk Van Dongen.....a name to remember when the SHTF.
Remember this name folks...time to get real active!
Dirk Van Dongen
Chamber of Commerce has gone Communist?
..odd...
More proof anyone pushing Free Trade is a Liberal...and these Statist groups push Free Trade....along w ObamaCare, government bailouts, subsidies....etc
“the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are standing behind Boehner. . . . I dont know of anybody in the business community who takes the side of the Taliban minority, said Dirk Van Dongen, longtime chief lobbyist for the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors”
Businessmen selling the rope to those who will use it to hang them—Big Government politicians. All in the name of crony capitalism and in-sourcing low wage jobs via amnesty.
Increasingly, what is good for Big Business is NOT good for America.
He’s one of those people you know are just soulless. Not aggressively evil, but just a hulking mass of nothing that you’d rather not have anything to do with.
Goes to figure that Bush gave him a medal or something. These people are all soulless. Gross manifestations of reality.
These must be big businesses that use government to cripple their competition and squash small competitors
The GOP treats conservatives worse than Democrats do
Fine, you’re against us then. It’s all out war now.
