I did some quick math:

Current revenues: $2.4T or $200B a month
Debt ceiling was raised: $1.0T and will get us to Feb 7 (4 months)
So, the debt will increase $1T / 4 mos at a rate of $250B a month
With this they are admitting that they will spend $200B in revenues and $250B in debt for a total of $450B a month
$450B * 12 mos = $5.4T annually!
The worst budget in history was at $4.0T!
That is a 35% increase in spending!

The “victory” for the GOP-e was that they think that they put Cruz in his place! By extension, they put Americans in their place and confirmed that we are subjects to be under DC’s RULE!

Do you have the numbers on the debt being cut inhalf under Obama - I thought he said that in his little endzone dance speech today.

Good math....and the announcement was made that this GRAND BARGAIN was funding at the sequester levels.....

Oh, and just remember, this “raising of the debt ceiling” did not mean that we are going to go further into debt, it just meant that we can now pay the bills that Congress had already approved the funding for.

Perhaps Boehner and McConnell could have at least negotiated for Reid and Obama to at least go back to ANNUAL BUDGETING instead of running the federal government at a constant state of panic, but that was probably too much to ask.

VDH was on Greg Garrison prog yesterday [hr 3]
http://www.wibc.com/podcasts/Episodes.aspx?PID=2233

His points:

“Things done that would reduce the deficit:

We have sequestration
We raised inc tax on the top bracket
We end war in Iraq
We’re pulling out of Afghanistan
Interest rates that service the debt are at all-time lows
We are paying same amount of debt service we did in 1996 when the deficit was 1/3 the size because of interest rate

With all of that we are still borrowing $600 bil a year, maybe more-— with no foreign wars, with sequestration, with cheap interest rates, with inc tax hikes.

To deal with that, you are going to have to risk being hated.”

Why do you think Reid prefers CRs to actually having to publish a budget?
