I still carry a .32cal in my left hip (1974), which acts-up if I overwork like this, as does my L-5 vert injury, but a little rest and aspirin assuage both.
I used a rented frontloader, tractor w/ bucket and forklift to do much of the heavy lifting, and kneepads while laying block, but the old joints at 63 just aren't what they used to be 25-30yrs ago. Heh.

I do truly appreciate your concern and research, thouworm.

LOL. 100% disagree (within normal limitations, i.e., which is wisdom). Instantly, I was reminded of this line from one of my favorite old movies -— “African Queen.”
” Nature, Mr. Allnut, is what we are put in this world to rise above.”.
Of course, Hepburn is speaking from a piously moral POV, but I intend to do what I can to resist Mother Nature as long as I have strength-—vanity, notwithstanding-—and the internet to keep up with medical science.

PS: .32cal in my left hip
can’t make that photo out? Sheesh, are you saying a bullet in your hip? how?
I am seeing more young people registering Republican and even Conservative (in my state you can register Conservatiive). My generation during their 20’s would never have registered Republican or Conservative here in the East.
Act locally. In my town, every Conservative committee person gets a birthday card. We assiduosly collect their email addresses. We mail to every Conservative household at least twice a year. We have a Facebook page. We stay in touch with young Republicans and Conservatives and alert them to issues that effect them. For instance, a link was sent to the recent anti-Obamacare ad that was targeted to young people. And we always point out what the local Left Wing nut jobs are doing or trying to do.

Thanks for reply. That’s great anecdotal evidence. Do you mind me asking what state you live in? I ask because I have never heard of a choice Conservative vs Republican!
How does that work in your primaries?
That’s my pelvis and the .32cal is lodged right next to the spine. It’s still there. Went in left side, just 2” below belt line, missed all organs, arteries/veins, bones etc. One in a million shot when I was robbed/shot.
Docs in South Miami Trauma Ctr said they’d never seen anything like it. Normally a small cal bullet tumbles around and rips-up organs etc, and the surgeons are inside piecing things back together. I stayed overnight “for observation”, and was released the next afternoon. Carried CCW ever since. I won’t be a victim twice.
I am in New York State where, believe it or not, there is an official Conservative Party statewide with a separate line on the ballot.
We cannot vote in Republican primaries. This year we had our own primaries for several positions. We often cross-endorse and Republicans want to be on the Conservative line because (in my town any way) when it comes to the general election a lot of conservative Republicans vote for their candidate on the our line. It’s a little complicated but the effect is to hold the Republicans feet to the fire when and if they want our endorsement. This year, we are running a separate Conservative candidate for County Executive.
Sheesh! Don’t think I ever remember you telling that story.

There goes God again...
“Carried CCW ever since. I wont be a victim twice.”
I am 100% CCW; have male relatives who hunt; a small few relatives and friends who subscribe to weapons for self defense; nobody I know who is CCW determined. BUT...for the first time in my life (in the past year or two) I am a hair’s breadth away from learning how to shoot myself.
lol; I just committed some grammatical sin. “shoot for myself”; take gun lessons; maybe buy a weapon.
Our country is culturally devolving too fast that owning a weapon for self defense is not eminently, practically wise-—even for me who had never, in the past, even entertained such a scenario.
Question: If you had no guns, what would be your most recommended line of defense? OR, is that too naive a question?

Thanks for detailed explanation.
New York! Conservative ballot. Who’d a thunk it!
