Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Tuesday he would vote for a clean CR to end the government shutdown.
Ill vote for a clean CR," Issa told CNNs The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.
Republicans in the House have always been for a clean CR increase if it meant we began the serious negotiations on the kinds of reforms that need to happen entitlements as a shortcut for it. That's what the deal is about right now. Democrats have pressed Republicans to bring a continuing resolutio to the floor that funds the government and does nothing else for weeks.
GOP leaders have argued the clean CR would not have the votes to pass the House, something Democrats say is not true.
House GOP leaders are now trying to get their members to approve a new measure that would fund the government through Dec. 15 and raise the debt ceiling through Feb. 7, but it is unclear if it has the votes to pass.
The bill would also prohibit lawmakers and their staffs from getting employer contributions to their ObamaCare insurance, and would prevent the Treasury Department from using "extraordinary measures" to prevent the nation from exceeding the new debt limit.
Democrats object to those measures.
Issa had previously voted for measures to fund the government as long as Obamacare is defunded or some of the laws other provisions are delayed.
Issa folds like craft paper
It may be too late anyway. Heritage pressure may kill the surrender bill
NO DAMNED WAY!!!
Issa is an elitist a-hole.
Put Issa in the RINO poltroon column.
Issa puts on a good show but he is a sell out —
Maybe Issa can launch an investigation into why Republicans would vote for a clean CR and have the findings be inconclusive.
Nasty Issa wants a clean CR?
Well, Isa should join Peter King and the rest of the RINO’s and sign
the RAT discharge petition. Go ahead Issa sign your name to that discharge
Petition.
Issa was taken over by the pods in “invasion of the body snatcher” We will remember the good Issa after he is gone. NO DAMED WAY!!
Giving the Kenyan what he wants! After all, he “won”.
He is extremely weak in the cause of Liberty.
He and many other GOPe will go down in history as willingly participating in the destruction of our Republic.
They deserve nothing but our contempt.
IMHO, the Republicans need to refocus. They aren’t winning.
Even if they get what they want, they are setting the stage for a third party run in 2016. They aren’t attracting the Unions when they were being given to them on a silver platter.
Instead the RATS are playing this similar to Perot when Bill ran against Bush. The 3rd party and the Republicans are placing Hillary into office right now.
They need the conservative base back to normal and regame for 2016.
All that money floatin’ around, you’d think Repubs could afford to buy a spine.
I think the present “budget” - the shutdown - is a good one to stay on permanently.
But the “banker’s eunuchs” members of Congress can’t say no to their masters.
Don’t say that about Issa. We still have ‘sequestration’ and that’s the ‘holy grail’ in this fight, but I’m betting Mark Levin is right - the RATs won’t support any bill - they want chaos to expand their power grab ...
Very discouraging but since he is a Republican, I can understand. He is under duress from the RINOs in the party and if he wishes to survive (at least he thinks), he has to perform. sorry to see you go though, had thoughts that he was a decent fellow, politically speaking. Nice seeing you fellow...
he is a trial baloon for the French Republicrats. Let them have it now!! Fax— email— call Get hard. we are winning!!!
He’s on the GOPe list.
I think this whole debate proves there are not two parties in this country. Just two sides of the same liberal coin.
A pox on both their houses.
I will still support any truly conservative candidate, but there apparently aren’t many of them left out there.
I know this much. My days of pulling a lever just because it has an “R” on it are completely over.
