I love Jack Russells. Hubby has forbidden them though LOL. Way too overactive for him.
Our doggie is part English Shepard, part German Shepard and we think part cur. She’s got spots in places. She’s 65-70lbs now. She’s got nice pointey German Shepard ears too. And she herds me to the food bowl.
Jack Russells are hyper. I have two pugs. Crazy hyper.
With that mix, I imagine that to be one smart dog. I’ve always been told that mutt mixes are the smartest. I kind of hate that people breed “pure-bred” dogs when there are so many good, smart, loyal mutts out there who would make fantastic pets for whatever a person’t particular need might be, who need good homes.
Mine are 2 golden labs, a vanilla lab mix (don’t know what mix), the Jack Russell, and the sweetest Irish Setter. Before I had all these, I had a buff cocker spaniel who was my soulmate for almost 18 years-very long-lived for a cocker. He went everywhere I went, was smart as a whip and had the heart of a lion. He had a treacherous streak-he would stand there and act all tolerant while someone petted him, then nip them as soon as they turned their back. He tried to pick fights with dogs three times his size. He was so smart! I never could teach him to do “dog tricks”-he was smart enough, but contemptuous of performing for silly humans, and too dignified. His passing left a hole in my heart. I love all my current dogs, but only the Irish Setter comes close to being what my Rascal was to me. The vanilla lab comes close but in a different way. She’s the sweetest, most patient and docile dog-until she thinks I’m threatened, then she turns into Cujo. Could any creature be better than man’s best friend? Not to me!
