I agree. If we hadn’t had inside cats that were very elderly I might have tried to acclimate her to ‘inside’. We didn’t think it was fair for the cats though and might have driven the doggie nuts besides. She found us one December. We walked out on the driveway to a whimpering, limping, obviously emaciated dog. :( Mean people suck.
She had deer meat (cooked) last night though. She smelled it when I walked out of the house and started the whimpering/begging noises LOL.
I’d actually like her to be an inside/outside dog. But she’s happy where she is. Lots of shade in the summer and cool grass to roll around in. And a nice warm bed in her shelter in the wintertime. I dust her with flea stuff periodically and we keep fresh DE in her bed. She doesn’t really scratch that we can tell. And I’m not eaten up with fleas when I’m out there with her either. So we’re big big fans of the DE. I use the food grade stuff though, so it’s a bit spendier than the other stuff. I can’t rave enough about the DE.
Other people have told me about the DE, I have to remember to try it. I’m older myself, so with 5 large dogs, we suck it up and have the mobile vet come do their shots, etc. They’re all spayed/neutered, all on Revolution and Hartguard. I clip their claws myself. I’d have every stray mutt I see at my house if my more objective DH didn’t draw the line. I hope this sounds as iI mean it-I’m glad my dogs are old enough to go before I do, because I don’t know who I could trust to love them and care for them as I do. I mean, there’s 5 of them!
I can remember when you could just buy the stuff and give them their shots yourself. Dang government has to mess with everything!
What is DE?
