Today’s liberals follow the tradition of French absolutism. We, the ancient Whig tradition, perhaps best spelled out by Edmund Burke in some of his early essays and which was taken up by American revolutionaries.
Yes, good analysis. The problem is, many Americans don’t understand this and wind up talking like French revolutionaries rather than Whigs.
