Computer outage causes interruption in use of food-stamp benefits
Washington Post ^ | October 12, 2013 | Ovetta Wiggins

Posted on 10/12/2013 7:47:56 PM PDT by Travis McGee

People in 17 states, including Maryland and Virginia, who tried to buy groceries using electronic food-stamp cards were turned away from supermarkets Saturday as a result of a computer outage.

The system failure affected low-income individuals and families who receive food benefits through the SNAP and WIC programs.

The outage occurred during a “routine test” of backup systems Saturday morning, Jennifer Wasmer, a spokeswoman for Xerox, which administers the program, said. By late Saturday, access had been restored.

After the system failed, SNAP and WIC beneficiaries in the affected states were unable to buy food using electronic benefit transfers.

I managed to slip a very early comment in after the article. If you "like" the comment, it will stay at the top and cause thousands of libtards to go into choking spasms. My comment:

Read "When the Music Stops, How America's Cities May Explode In Violence" to understand the dire consequences that may result when, and not if, the unsustainable EBT system finally crashes for good. Google it, I wrote it last year. Or read, "Will Obama Stop the Music This November?" a shorter essay I wrote last week.

Funny how this "computer glitch" (haw haw haw, snicker), happened just now. It couldn't be a warning shot to the GOP not to mess with granting Obama his infinite debt limit increase, could it? "Youse wouldn't want to see the cities all rioting and burning, now would youse? Capiche? Better extend that debt limit credit card to the moon, and I mean now. Else youse won't like what happens when the food stamp cards all go down."

When the music stops...

Noticed this in Socal today at the market. The checker said the government was out of money.

That's what the EBT crowd will believe, no matter what "officials" say to the contrary.

Methinks this is a test case for 1)seeing if the Repubs can get the blame, and 2) how long would it take for a ‘computer outage’ to result in chaos in the streets.

They’re back up and working now.

Now for the fun part. The idiots think EBT cards were turned off for blacks alone.

I find it odd that Fox News has nothing about this on its website.

I agree on both counts. It was a “test” and a warning to the GOP to give Obama his infinite debt increase...”or else.”

The local Walmart has a sign on the door that they will not accept Cherokee Nation WIC cards.

I went to Safeway around 6pm and all of the doors had “NO EBT” “GLOBAL OUTAGE” signs.

I expected to see a riot or something. The place was empty. No drama noted.

This was in N. CA

I read this earlier today and laughed. I thought of all of the 0bama-lemmings that elected and re-elected the assclown; probably all out buying T-bone steaks on the taxpayer’s dime for their Saturday cookouts. People whom have, usually many generations deep, built their entire existence around the government teat.

Get used to it, suckers!
