The article mentions people not being able to feed their kids. That would mean they don’t even keep a day’s worth of food on hand? Wow.

They don't feed their kids themselves anyways.

We lived in a welfare town for 18 LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG years and saw it all. Those kids went hungry.

They're lying if they claim they feed their children.

And when they do eat, it's junk food. Some years ago we took another family with us to a buffet dinner on our dime. They have four kids. So I'm behind the 10 and 12 year-old kids watching what food they got for their plates. All crap and sugary treats. I told them to put salad and veggies on their plates. They gave me a disgusted look, and said they never eat that stuff. I asked what about mom and pop? They said no, none of us eat that stuff. Ever. My kids thought it was pathetic, as mine eat balanced meals. Three of those other four kids are now grown with kids of their own, repeating the cycle of junk food (and being poor), except one gal who joined the Navy and got straightened out (the only successful one who is now a nurse with three kids).
