I would think there would be legal repercussions for this type of statement.

If what Nichols says is true (and I kinda doubt it is), he’s got the very best protection from prosecution possible: any case against him would have to include an investigation, sworn testimony, discovery and the like, any of which could endanger the Clintons (again, if what Nichols said is true).
And the one fact of life we all know is that *nothing* that endangers the Clintons (or the Obamas) is ever seriously pursued.
