As I read the article it appears to me that remains arrive and they don’t know if they’re American. They take them to a lab and do tests. Once identified as American they then hold this ceremony. It’s a muddled attempt to honor a fallen American ... Better way to do this? I’m sure there is. But it seems to be an effort to honor our fallen soldiers regardless.
I sure wouldn't want a ceremony for remains that turn out to be of a Japanese soldier.
Sounds like lame theater.
