A teen who landed in federal immigration detention following a minor drug arrest now faces several months in federal prison for fighting guards at the Tacoma facility.

Brought to the United States by his parents at age 4 or 5, Jose Jesus Villa-Chairez was 17 when police in Texas caught him with three tabs of Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug. Convicted of a misdemeanor, Villa-Chairez had been locked up for more than a year on immigration-related charges when he fought with guards at the Northwest Detention Center.

Federal prosecutors in Seattle contend Villa-Chairez deserves 1½ years in federal prison for scratching two guards with a sharpened toothbrush, while his attorneys say the young man should get a break – he was frustrated to learn he’d be shipped back to Mexico, a country he’s never known, where he has no family.

Villa-Chairez, now 18, was living on the streets of Houston when he was caught with three Xanax tablets, Assistant Federal Public Defender Linda R. Sullivan said in court papers. Now, Sullivan said, the young man finds himself “very alone in the world.”

“Not only has he forsaken his parents and family, they also refuse to assist him in any way,” the public defender said in court papers. “He is far away from his home, in a part of the world that he is entirely unfamiliar with, without friends or resources. …

“How he will survive in the world following his deportation is a chapter of his life that is still unfolding.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers identified Villa-Chairez for deportation on March 28, 2012, while the young man was serving a five-day sentence in a Houston jail for drug possession. Having served his time, Villa-Chairez was sent to the Selma Carson Juvenile Home in Fife, Wash.,

The defense attorney did acknowledge her client was extremely frustrated to find himself jailed for months following a misdemeanor drug crime...Everyone lese in jail is also extremely frustrated to find themselves locked up. This not not justify his attitude & actions. Why the sob story for a repeat offender who only does theings jailed to ensure his legal problems get bigger and bigger. He has wore out his welcome here. “How he will survive in the world following his deportation is a chapter of his life that is still unfolding.”He was not worried about this when his continued to get increased crimes brought against him and now wants us to feel sorry for him.

Illegals should be put on a ship that will drop them off on the beach at the southernmost end of Mexico. At least, make them have to work at getting back across the border.

That's some really goofy ****. One of those "compelling life stories" the 'RATS like. If you deport his ***, he'll be back home in a land that he is totally familiar with. Geeesh! Lawyers! What a bunch of spaceballs!
