Starting next January, health insurance plans in California must offer coverage for fertility treatments to homosexual couples and unmarried individuals under a new law signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday.
The law amends the states Insurance Code to prohibit insurers from withholding coverage for most fertility treatments based on age, ancestry, color, disability, domestic partner status, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, national origin, sex or sexual orientation.
A.B.460 was introduced by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a San Franciso Democrat and LGBT rights activist who portrayed himself in a film starring Sean Penn about the murder of openly gay San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk by a disgruntled former supervisor.
To restrict fertility coverage solely to heterosexual married couples violates Californias non-discrimination laws. I wrote this bill to correct that, Ammiano said in a statement praising Brown for signing the legislation.

There may come a time when families will be required to help same sex couples with their reproductive needs. Sadly I could see it happening.

This is what you get when you mix third party pays health care and politicians. No third party payer system is workable if politicians involve themselves. Since politicians will always involve themselves, no such system can ever work on an ongoing basis. Cash and carry is the only long term stable system for delivering health care.

Note to Gov. Moonbeam: 1 male + 1 female = 1 child; 1 male + 1 male = 0 child; 1 female + 1 female = 0 child. It is called simple biology.
Now, using technology to create a child for a homosexual couple should not be covered by tax dollars. Let the LBGT crowd pay for their perversions.
To: Olog-hai
This is beyond stupid. If you want kids, marry someone of the opposite sex and try the correct method first.

If there is a campaign against the Laws of God and Nature, California is leading the charge. It looks like Brown is bucking for High Priest of the Amalekites. This type of law shows liberalism is more than just a mental disorder. It is a rebellion against God forcing the faithful to comply or face punishment.

Well, I don't think there are very many insurance companies that cover Fertility treatments even for Heterosexual couples. This will put the nail in the coffin for those few that do offer coverage.

Obamacare may require Insurance companies to cover fertility treatments. I am not sure. It does require contraception be covered, regardless of religious objections.
