“Why wouldn’t they believe their policies could work? We make their irrational ideas work for them. We prove them right.”
I was thinking about this in regards to cars. The EPA forced an oxygen sensor to be added to the exhaust. Engineers said, “Whoa! We can use that to continuously tune the engine.” The fuel standards gave us turbocharging which greatly enhanced performance and efficiency. All the tricks now used, from overhead cams to turbocharging to computers constantly tuning the engine for the real world, have been known forever. But like disk brakes or rack and pinion steering, they were not used because one extra dollar of cost comes out of the CEO’s bonus. (The market would have eventually forced everybody to use them anyway, but the liberals don’t believe in the market.)
They forced conservation on us but engineers adapted. So liberals made the standards even tighter and tighter. They really want all personal transport ended. Having failed with their first attempt because industry adapted, they’ve made fuel more and more expensive. Eventually, we’ll all be driving mopeds.
They won’t stop until we all live crowded into Soviet style apartment blocks in an inner city. The liberals will still live in their comfortable country dachas with their fences and their guards while the rest of us compete like rats for scraps.
They better be planning to grow what they eat, because mopeds won’t plow a field nor carry farm products to the cities.
