One of my LP friends once told me years ago he never voted because he did not want to give tacit approval and show acceptance of the outcome.
I once jokingly told him if it ever hits the fan I wanted to be in his cell (former artillery Captain). I feel sure if anything came falling down, he would not respect me because I have continued to prop up the ugly beast.

Thanks, a great piece that makes sense. The great declaration said we will suffer that which is sufferable and that does seem to be what is being said here.
An aside, the piece mentions Rough and Ready and the Phillipis. They were a good customer of mine back in the '80s when I was selling logging equipment parts. I witnessed the death of many logging companies, mills, and timber towns in that decade. There are still jobs in the business but not like it used to be.
