Maybe mom can go to work while he’s furloughed. McDonald’s is hiring. I think they just canned the mooch who threatened the boss over not making $15/hour. Saw it in the other thread. So I know one job is available.
He can stay home and play mr. mom while she works for a change.
Then, when he goes back to work and they get his back pay windfall, she can buy a new house coat, some snickers bars and watch tv all day again.
But but she will demand $15 too!

Or they can all go to West Texas or even Dakota and work in the oil patch. Lots and lots and lots of jobs that pay well if you are willing to work.
