[snip] .........As for letters on climate change, we do get plenty from those who deny global warming. And to say they "deny" it might be an understatement: Many say climate change is a hoax, a scheme by liberals to curtail personal freedom.
Before going into some detail about why these letters don't make it into our pages, I'll concede that, aside from my easily passing the Advanced Placement biology exam in high school, my science credentials are lacking. I'm no expert when it comes to our planet's complex climate processes or any scientific field. Consequently, when deciding which letters should run among hundreds on such weighty matters as climate change, I must rely on the experts -- in other words, those scientists with advanced degrees who undertake tedious research and rigorous peer review.
And those scientists have provided ample evidence that human activity is indeed linked to climate change. Just last month, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -- a body made up of the world's top climate scientists -- said it was 95% certain that we fossil-fuel-burning humans are driving global warming. The debate right now isn't whether this evidence exists (clearly, it does) but what this evidence means for us.
Simply put, I do my best to keep errors of fact off the letters page; when one does run, a correction is published. Saying "there's no sign humans have caused climate change" is not stating an opinion, it's asserting a factual inaccuracy.

Even sadder......his off and on again co-author John P. Holdren has been Barack Obama's one and only top White House Science and Technology Adviser.
The oceans are pretty good solar arrays, absorbing a great deal of the light that gets to them. Of course the Arctic, when frozen over, reflects.
Compared to the surface area of the oceans.
If you twiddle with Lorenz’s simple model, you can sometimes get it to degenerate, that is the oscilation may decrease over time, and eventually damps out.
There is a earth state that corresponds to that. If it gets really cold, or the sun output decreases (or we move further out in our orbit) the water on the earth freezes, and the white snow, white ice, and white clouds reflect most of the sun’s radiation. Global Cooling.
The fraction of the earth’s reflected energy is the albedo (from Latin Albus, whiteness). We manipulate the local albedo to try to assure that runways at Thule Greenland are suitable in warmer weather.
When it comes to promoting pseudoscience, people like Dr. Michael Mann are more dangerous than semiliterates like “Dr.” Kent Hovind and “Dr.” Carl Baugh. Why? Because unlike those two, Michael Mann knows what makes an idea scientific and is knowingly peddling pseudoscience (climate catastrophism) in order to expand the Cathedral’s unelected power (which Michael Mann is a member of).
Now I know that Carl Baugh and Kent Hovind are dishonest too, but they’re dishonest in a stupid way. In contrast, Michael Mann is dishonest in a sort of intelligent devilish way.
That is the truth. They continue to ignore volcanic heat input under the oceans even though we just discovered the largest volcano in the solar system under the pacific near Japan. Then the idiots claim that volcanic heat input can be ignored because it is insignificant when compared to the heat input from the sun.
So an underwater volcanic eruption occurring near the north pole in winter time is insignificant ?

Some places or timescales, maybe. But the correct statement about temperatures like this:
is that temperatures have been flat for going on 17 years.
Nope. Not even close. A bunch of political hacks and self-serving grant seekers. And "peer review"? After seeing what goes on behind the scenes (in the Climategate e-mails), how can anyone believe that peer review is in any way meaningful.
You could start here.
And at the current rate of change, in just three years daily temperatures will average -150F, and it will be dark 24 hours a day! Somebody get the government involved, quick!
