The circumstances were unclear, but guards at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli said gunmen had taken the Libyan leader from the hotel. One guard described it as an "arrest". Government officials could not immediately be reached to confirm his whereabouts.

Two years after a revolution toppled Muammar Gaddafi, Libya's central government has been struggling to contain rival tribal militias and Islamist militants who control parts of the country.

Ali Zeidan, Prime Minister of Libya

"He was appointed by the General National Congress on 14 October 2012, and took office on 14 November after Congress approved his cabinet nominees. Prior to the Libyan civil war, Zeidan was a Geneva-based human rights lawyer and according to the BBC, is considered by some local observers as a strong-minded liberal. Zeidan was reportedly kidnapped by armed men in Tripoli during the early morning hours of October 10, 2013."

Barack Obama owns the blame. Braggarts in his admin outed Libya cooperation in al-Libi raid.

"Ali Zeidan served as a diplomat for Libya during the 1970s, serving in India under Ambassador Mohammed Magariaf. Both men defected in 1980 and went on to form the National Front for the Salvation of Libya. Zeidan spent nearly three decades in exile in Geneva after the defection.

During the revolution Zeidan served as the National Transitional Council's Europe envoy, and is credited as having played a key role in persuading French President Nicolas Sarkozy to support the anti-Gaddafi forces."

One would think the U.S. security umbrella around him after the Al-Libi capture would have anticipated blow back and would have been impervious. We are dealing with groups now that can take over shopping malls and capture high-ranking leaders.

Yes, the US outed the Libyan government saying they approved the raid. This kidnapping is payback for cooperating with the US. We should never have stated publicly that the Libyan government assisted us.

U.S. Officials Say Libya Approved Commando Raids

"The Libyan government in recent weeks tacitly approved two American commando operations in its country, according to senior American officials, one to capture a senior militant from Al Qaeda and another to seize a militia leader suspected of carrying out the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the United States diplomatic mission in Benghazi."

update:

"Last weekend, the U.S. military captured a top al Qaeda suspect in Tripoli in a raid that angered Islamist militant groups, including one blamed for the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate, in Benghazi.

The U.S. State Department was looking into the reports of the incident and was "in close touch with senior U.S. and Libyan officials on the ground," spokeswoman Jen Psaki said."

Saying they were ‘in touch’ with Libyan officials probably just for their prime minister killed. Way to Go Spite House

He doesn’t look real happy ... which is not surprising.

Libya is in a dreadful mess.

There is some story now circulating that he was arrested by a special anti-corruption unit of Libyan security, but I do not believe that. I think that is the Libyan authorities, trying to save face.

Another one under the Obama bus. One lesson Obama has taught the world is to never rely on or trust the US. The Obama will turn on anyone in a minute if it is seen in Obama's interest of just if Zero is having a petty irritation.
