“Obama’s mother obtained Indonesian citizenship through Article 7:”

Impossible, read Article 7.

“except in case when she acquires the citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia she possesses still another nationality”

Stanley Ann married Soetoro in 1965, she would have had to renounce her US citizenship within one year to be able to claim Indonesian citizenship. We know she did not, as she renewed her US Passport in 1968.

Paragraph 2 of Article 7 does not apply to Stanley Ann as she didn’t meet the exception in paragraph 1.

Article 7 references a marriage contract entered into in Indonesia and not the U.S. Consequently, its one year after a marriage contract was entered into while the couple was in Indonesia and not when they were in the U.S.
