Conservative actor James Woods: ‘I don’t expect to work again’

By Jessica Chasmar

James Woods, the award-winning actor and outspoken conservative, said Tuesday night that he’s aware he may never work again in Hollywood because of his political views.

“This President is a true abomination. To have barricaded the WW2 vets, but allow illegal aliens privilege,” the 66-year-old Mr. Woods posted to Twitter, linking to a USA Today article.

One fan asked if Mr. Woods was afraid he would be blacklisted in liberal Hollywood.

“I don’t expect to work again. I think Barack Obama is a threat to the integrity and future of the Republic. My country first,” he responded.

Mr. Woods is best known for his roles in “The Onion Field,” “Ghosts of Mississippi” and the legal series “Shark.” He also has voiced roles in episodes of “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy.”

I’ve heard it from people who have been on sets he’s been on, among others. He’s a great actor, but he’s alienated a lot of people over the years, in a business where relationships are important. You can say it’s his outspoken political views—he certainly does. But it’s mostly that no one wants to deal with him being an arrogant jerk.

Living just down the street, I have the feeling that even those with a 200 IQ will find MIT challenging; I suspect he just got bitten by the ‘acting bug.’

It’s very much a youth culture, and I’m sure that even actors such Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, and Robert DeNiro have difficulty finding good scripts. Accent on “good.” There’s always a lot of crap being made.

I also have no doubt whatsoever that James Woods has many more excellent roles coming his way, even if they’re not raining down into his lap as if he were still thirty-five years old.

I thought it was “Fast Walking” where he hosed down Kay Lenz. ;-D

Tell me about it. I always wondered why he squandered his talent on something so low as Hollywood. This is a guy who had a full scholarship to MIT, is brilliant, can debate anybody under the table, is conservative - he could have been President if he wanted. And what does he do? Choose a job that requires the same talent and educational requirements as a McDonalds cashier.

It’s because they are lazy they don’t bother seeking out and reading new scripts. A friend of mine has been writing them on and off for 10 years and to date have never had one single solitary reply even though his scripts are mind blowing. Hollywood is lazy, they will focus more on doing remakes and promoting fascism, communism, socialism, statism, than looking for the next Godfather or Star wars or Jaws.

I hear what you’re saying; however, if I were a multi-zillionaire with a mansion in Beverly Hills, a cottage in Malibu, and a chauffeured limo, I’m pretty sure I’d be lazy, too.

Sometimes the Lord works in mysterious ways, James.

I wish the best of luck to you, Mr. Woods.
