MILWAUKEE (AP) — The federal government shutdown could leave America's craft brewers with a serious hangover.

Stores will still offer plenty of suds. But the shutdown has closed an obscure agency that quietly approves new breweries, recipes and labels, which could create huge delays throughout the rapidly growing craft industry, whose customers expect a constant supply of inventive and seasonal beers.

Beyond the relatively small number of hard-core leftists who believe Government should run everyone's lives, it is unfortunate that a large majority Americans give little or no thought to the idea of what the role and size of Government should be. Many simply accept the notion that Government needs to regulate nearly every aspect of human activity.

Somehow dopers think that they will be exempted from the regulations on consumption, production, transport, availability, age of use, etc. that are applied to alcohol (even at 5% level). Their mantra of "legalize it then tax the hell out of it" means putting the ATF in their backyard to keep track of production and tax stamps.
