ORLANDO, Fla. - Many people signing up for health care in Florida through the Affordable Care Act have been shocked when they have to give proof of their credit score before they finish the process.
Anne Packham, one of many people licensed by the state to help people navigate the government's website, said on Tuesday that the credit check occurs so providers can make an educated decision about who to insure.

No, perhaps it is those who have GREAT credit scores that will be denied.
Saw a clip (video) this a.m. on the television. There was someone who had signed up for zer0care. The policy selected had a thirteen thousand dollar a year deductible. Was surprised when this person said that she was happy with the plan she had selected. I thought thirteen thousand a year out of pocket before the plan kicks in? and she was happy? Wish I had a copy of that clip (video) from this a.m. Am still scratching my head over the joy she exhibited.
Any indication of monthly premiums when deductible is more than $1K/mo?? It’s just staggering to me!
Dunno about that. Many years ago I had some financial problems that knocked my credit rating into the dirt, and so I became a “high-risk” policy holder, despite the fact that I hadn’t had an accident or a ticket for more than 35 years.
So the bankrupt, dead beat, drunk, that hides from the repo man, is FORCED to buy insurance. Just as a general statement,....If you don’t have insurance now, you can’t afford ObamaCare. I’m looking at a family member that doesn’t have insurance now because it’s too expensive. They make $80k+. What are they going to do when Obama takes their kids away because they won’t insure them? You know it’s coming. Don’t answer the question about how many guns you have.
true dat
The democrats’ response to this fiasco is “Wait. It’ll get better.” Reminds me of the leftist Andy Griffith’s pro-obamacare commercial. The “sell” line was “There’s some good things coming. There’s lots of good things already.”
But wait!?!?!?
Healthcare is a Human Right?????
Right?
Logic? You expect logic?
Ha! This gets better by the day.
Except the idiots with low scores will probably get the lowest premiums....
So, the health care premium is a tax, right? Therefore I should be able to use my credit score against the IRS. If my credit score is too low then they shouldn’t be able to tax me.
Right?
What the heck does credit scoring have to do with your health needs? A credit check is required here in Nevada for car insurance, but it is such a stupid requirement that most companies by-pass it.
And every time an inquiry is made to your credit score counts against you. So what happens when multiple inquiries are made by different insurance companies?
I can see the system crashing from my house!
Indeed, I thought such judgments negatively impacted minorities and so were something the Obama administration opposed.
I wonder what’s up.
I’m imagining new waiting lists to get in to see a dentist now, too.
