Sufism is the only significant element in Islam that chooses to ignore the blood and thunder demands for jihad and conquest. Emphasizing instead those parts of the Koran that enjoin the faithful to be tolerant of all faiths and to behave in a benevolent, and charitable fashion to all. Sufis also do adhere in any close way to Shariah or use the Hadith as a compass for current questions of morality or policy. As a result both Sunni and Shia regard them with loathing and hatred.
