Obama's Dangerous Claim to Executive Power

Negotiating with Republicans has never been in Obama's playbook. Three days after his inauguration in 2009, President Barack Obama silenced Republican lawmakers who voiced concerned about the enormity of spending in his stimulus bill by uttering two brash words, "I won."

That was his governing philosophy, as he rammed through the American Reinvestment and Recovery.

But in the fall of 2010, Republicans swept into control of the House of Representatives, and since then, Obama's agenda has been stalled. With little prospect of gaining control of the House in 2014, Obama is resorting to discrediting the Constitution's limits on presidential power rather than bargain with Congressional Republicans.

Here are the president's own words, explaining why he refuses to negotiate to end the government shutdown and resolve the fast approaching debt ceiling problem.

His views on presidential power ought to alarm all Americans.

"I will not pay ransom," said Obama, for a stopgap-spending bill to open the government.

Historically, presidents have had to make concessions to Congress to secure funding. President Reagan endured eight shutdowns. Each time he negotiated with the Democratic speaker of the house, Tip O'Neill, conceding on issues from mid-range missile defense to support for Nicaraguan contras to quickly end the shutdown.

Senate Democrats reportedly will offer a bill shifting to the president the discretion to raise the debt ceiling any time through 2014

Dream on RATS, even RINO's in the House aren't crazy enough to go for that.

Though we have seen glimpses of this in prior POTUSes (Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, FDR when he was trying to Court Pack)

There is a reason the people put the Republicans in charge of the house of representatives, where spending bills originate according to the constitution. Obama can like it or lump it, the people spoke; and they didn’t give him and his democrat buddies power over everything.

Consider the emotions today of all those Federal Employees who have young children.

They are not going to be happy, happy, happy with Barry’s AG Eric Holder for stopping the National AMBER ALERT Program over the weekend.

Surely, Mr. Fast and Furious Holder thought this Amber Alert cancellation through and made an exception for Michelle Obama’s two darling children?

BTW, I wonder if Barry, General of the Senate Harry “Mean Ol’ Guy” Reid, and Colonel of her former self Nancy “Always in a fog” Pelosi realize that other Federal employees ALSO have young children that need to be protected by the National Amber Alert Program?

BTW, BTW, the boy-toy, wanna-be dictator Barry Soetoro, aka Mr. Michelle Obama, COULD order his personal Corporate Jet, Air Force One, to be mothballed, by Executive Order, of course. (He must have a few blank EO forms lying around his empty chair, or his Golf bag - - - ).

That simple gesture just might, could, show that Barry also “feels our pain.”

Barry could also BARRYCADE his own personal Golf Course, and BARRYCADE the Oceans, only on Federal land, of course. (Governors are so touchy these days about THEIR State’s shorelines)!

“His views on presidential power ought to alarm all Americans.”

They would...if the media reported objectively.

They would...if Americans still had powers of critical thinking.

Why shouldn’t Obama rule by fiat, by Executive Orders?? He has been doing it and they have let him get away with it. Why would he stop?

They should have stopped him right off, but they kept letting him push the limit, so now they expect him to stop?
He is just getting started, “You aint seen nothing yet

I don’t think they can shift by law a function designated to the congress through an act. If they do, every citizen should march on washington and bring a lot of ropes with them.

Hey now, you're talking about the right wing of the Democratic party here. They may go for anything.

Obama can like it or lump it, the people spoke; and they didn’t give him and his democrat buddies power over everything.

If only that were true. For decades, pretty much every president has claimed that their election represents a "mandate" from the voters for their agenda. zero has abused that more than all the others put together, however.

IMO, it is foolish to assume that the Constitution will triumph. zero and the Dems have repeatedly treated the Constitution with disdain and contempt and, today, for all intents and purposes, it is in shreds at the bottom of his waste basket.

In 5 years, zero and the left have managed to transform America from a country of laws to a country of men. I put nothing past these people because they have regularly proven that they will go to any lengths to circumvent the Constitution. And, Boehner and the RINOs aren't too far behind them!
