What about Mayo: won’t he have most of the Obama vote brehind him and enough to make a runoff, probably with Riser, the choice of Boehner and Cantor?

When Monroe Mayor Mayo first announced, it was assumed he would likely be in the runoff because he was well known and because of the demographics of the district.

However, his major money donors (bankers and engineering companies who do business with the City of Monroe) have not backed him, and thereby Mayo has been unable to do any significant advertising.

The thinking now is the black vote will be significantly fractured between him and State Rep. Marcus Hunter, to the extent that neither will be in the runoff.

All this is based on “street talk,” as I have seen no recent polls.
