WHY do people keep saying "pay the fine, don't get insurance, you can buy it when you get sick, they can't turn you down." My understanding is that there is an enrollment period. You sign up, or you don't and have to wait until next enrollment period, unless there is a qualifying event like you move to a different state or have a baby or get married. And I think the first year fine is $95 OR 1% of your income, whichever is larger.

It is sad, but these people, even while being screwed by Obama, will never vote Right because Republicans are rich old white guys and toothless rednecks running a War on Woman. (That Free Birth Control turned out to be mighty expensive, didn't it? Fools.)

Correct. The Republ;ican "talking points" are that the $95.00 fine will be the cheapest way to go and most currently uninsured individuals will simply opt for that exit the first year. The $95.00 fine is a MINIMUM! Take a family of four with an income of $120,000.00 a year and the fine is $1200.00. Why is the 1% number not being given?
