The Jackson City School District (U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Ohio)

An Ohio school district has agreed to keep a portrait of Jesus Christ off school property and pay a $95,000 fine in the face of legal pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union.

This is truly disgraceful in every way, and particularly when you consider the very difficult "school funding" issues Ohio has constantly faced (re: property tax funding, State apportionments, "equitable" funding, etc.)...

It seems we have a "school levy" up almost every "off-election" date I turn around (those "special elections" in May/August), and for this apparently rural (?) community to hand over this kind of money to the A.C.L.U. because they can't afford to pursue their case any further in court...

I wish someone with deep pockets would take up their cause and put an end to this legalistic blackmail and thuggery!!
