Why Is This Not a National Tragedy? A troubled young mother is shot dead and our ruling class...

A troubled young mother is shot dead and our ruling class applauds.

An unarmed 34-year-old woman suffering from postpartum depression is surrounded by the authorities while sitting in her car, and gunned down in cold blood. She is blocked in. She cannot move. And yet she is killed by heavily armed security officers. Her one-year old child witnesses this from the back seat. Why is this not a national tragedy?

Miriam Carey was a young African-American woman who wanted to better herself. She went to college and graduated with a BA degree in health and nutrition science. She became a dental hygienist. One of her neighbors noted that it was obvious she was educated. She gave birth to her daughter a year ago and began to suffer from postpartum depression. She displayed some irrational behavior and was put on medication.

Thus far it’s not an uncommon story. About 50% of women who give birth suffer from postpartum depression. A friend of mine was on medication for more than 8 years after her daughter was born. This might conceivably happen to my daughter. Or to one of Obama’s daughters, come to think of it.

Then, on October 3, Miriam crashed her car into a security barrier near the White House. She was surrounded by security men shouting at her and pointing high-power guns. Was it so irrational to try to escape, to protect her daughter from men pointing pistols at her? A chase ensued, and she then crashed her car into a median somewhere in the vicinity of the Congress. She was blocked by security forces from several agencies. She could not move. She was unarmed, and alone save for her daughter. In her car, unprotected. And then she was killed...

<>The woman was dead by the time the cops pulled the baby out.<>

Here is the Wolf Blitzer interview with Patty Bills — eyewitness to the final encounter.

She says that the barrage of bullets took place after the child was removed from the vehicle:

“It’s slander to claim I approved of what they did. I don’t. I simply understand why they made that choice, and believe that it was justifiable under the law.”

No it would be slander if I called you a moron or 13 kinds of stupid. Now that would be slander. But I would never do that. :-)

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. But I do know of what you speak and yes, it is damn hard. For anyone that is successful, how many do you think are not? Just the ones that don’t “care enough”. I just don’t feel that’s a fair assumption. It sounds like her family was trying. Good to remember that not everyone is as smart as you.

My 21 year old daughter took a trip to DC last month. It was her first time visiting the capitol. She kept telling me she was afraid to go down certain streets. I thought her fear was caused by criminals but she was really afraid of the armed guards and barricades. She was surprised by all the roadblocks and armed security.

“Every single one of these recent shootings has had reports of multiple shooters and then a few hours later that all dies down and there is just one poor patsy on psychotropic drugs left to prosecute.”

Only the recent ones? Isn’t that also true about all the shootings during the Bush years as well? Or did you only start paying attention when the Dems got back into power?

“If you can believe that the ATF illegally walked guns across the Mexican border in order to gin up support for gun control or that the US ammbassador to Libya in conjuction with the Sec of State was illegally running guns to the Syrian rebels or the IRS possibly at the behest of the WH was targeting Tea Party groups for scrutiny then why is the idea of the govt running drugged up patsies for false flag incidents so hard to swallow?”

Because we have actual EVIDENCE of misdeeds in F&F, Benghazi, and the IRS scandal. Enough evidence to hold Congressional hearings. You’ve got no evidence for your “drugged up patsy false flag” conspiracy nonsense.

Now, let me turn that question around on you. You believe in these shooting conspiracies based on bad logic and no evidence. Lefties believe 9/11 was an “inside job”, and that we “faked the moon landing”, based on bad logic and no evidence. So, why don’t you believe those leftie conspiracy theories too? Or do you?

Doesn’t fit the narrative, so like the Chicago shootings, it will go unreported.

True. Although we also know it WOULD have fit the narrative if only a white Texan man was POTUS.

In this land of ranchers, bikers and other rednecks, they shoot out tires or use stop-strips-even in our tiny towns and communities at festivals and events where the streets and sidewalks are packed with people-insane drivers are subdued and carted off for a cell visit and a call to a lawyer, and I’ve never heard that anyone was hit by a flying anything in the fracas-good aim, I guess.

There have been one or two wrongful death-by-cop incidents-but not in several years. The county and the former LEOs involved have paid/are still paying on the multi-million dollar settlements, the only town with a PD fired its entire police department and went to a city marshal instead, and the county started hiring more vets who did tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and know a “real” threat as opposed to something else-it has been a great improvement.

Maybe we’re just a bunch of dumb rednecks, but the lesson learned was to look before you leap-or shoot. I think DC might have something to learn from them...

It’s clear that she did not ram the barricades there as there was no damage to the front of her car and that video shows that she did not hit it.

I think I have seen a picture of the drivers side after the shooting and the police have her out of the vehicle on the ground. The window in that picture is either down or has been shot out — but it is not there.

Does anybody know which door they removed the child from — passenger or driver’s side???

I could also call you a number of things that would get me banned. But, I would never do that, either.

I thought she rammed the barricade at the White House, after this video.

What do the RCW have to do with this event in DC?

I see a bigger problem here. Why were the cops there in the first place? Why are we spending millions upon millions to provide round the clock security to a handful of politicians?

Look. I’m not saying that politicians should be intentionally exposed to physical danger. But why are we providing the aristocracy this level of security in the first place? NONE of them are that important.

I hear what you're saying, and I agree...up to a point. This driver drove herself and a small child from Connecticut to DC and proceeded to do things that caused her to be regarded as a serious danger. There was no time to ponder and study and interview family members. This driver was hell-bent on causing trouble, possibly killing many people in the process. I am not saying that the police did the right thing, but I am saying that the driver made wrong choices over and over, leaving the police little choice but to stop her with as little loss of life as possible.

One life was lost, but her child's life was saved, as were the lives of all the other motorists and bystanders. Again, if she had been transporting explosives and had taken out a large group of people in a nearby building, I doubt we would be standing around now wringing out hands over the driver's purported mental state.

In my state, shooting at a vehicle in the manner that you describe is considered to be deadly conduct. It's a felony. If you use a weapon in self-defense, it's justified against another person, not a vehicle.

I thought you might be interested in a specific case that occurred in my state. It occurred shortly after the enactment of our first CHL law.

A CHL holder was assaulted by another man in a parking lot. He drew his handgun, and the other guy fled. At that point, he should have let it go, but he chased after the guy -- who jumped in his car.

In order to prevent the assailant from leaving, he shot out his tires. Then, the CHL holder called the police. When they arrived, they arrested the CHL holder for deadly conduct. Witnesses described a woman and child standing nearby when the CHL holder shot the tires, and the jury agreed that he did so recklessly, endangering the occupant and those nearby.

Yes, the guy in the car had just assaulted the CHL holder, but had broken off the assault. At that point, he could no longer claim self-defense. The CHL holder lost his CHL, and with a felony on his record, he'll never get one again.

Some will read this and say: yeah, but he wasn't a law enforcement officer. In Texas, the laws regarding use of force and deadly force in self-defense are essentially the same for everyone. Law enforcement officers only have additional justifications for arrest and search, but those are again specified as force against another person.

If she did she did not hit it very hard because at its final resting place on the grassy knoll there is little to no damage in the front of the car — from what I can see.

Exactly what I’ve been saying. Everyone is protecting the big guy. She was gunned down because she rammed a barrier and then spoke the big guy’s name to the secret service. That was the reason why the DC police shot and killed her.

She is just another lamb sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. The fact that she was black doesn’t matter.

They are so on edge, thinking the folk is going to start a revolt, they are ready to kill citizens.

This article said: “My friend suffered from post-partem depression and was on medication for eight years after her daughter was born.”
That’s weird, and more than a little creepy. What kind of woman would be depressed that long after her child was born? And what kind of doctor would keep her on that kind of mind-altering medication for that long? It just doesn’t make sense. They are hiding something important from us. This is scary.
