Actually, we agree. Making this about obastardcare was a mistake I think. I said all along that the pain of the monstrosity has to be maximized. People will only learn lessons if there are consequences to actions. Sadly, of the carrot or stick, the stick works best.
I have been wondering how the correction can be made from the wrong cause, defunding obastardcare, to the right cause... trying to manage the budget and stiffle spending. It has to be done in stages just like bringing down a junkie off of drugs.
Pivot to issues of spending, if it can be done properly somehow by the repubs, is the thing to do. Obastardcare is an unsustainable expense for all but it needs to become an example of the price of government that is too big. A battle cry?
That's likely what they said about social security and medicare and here we are decades later with both still growing.
Socialized medicine is maximized in England yet they still make no move to get rid of it .
That's because once it's entrenched there's no getting rid of it.
You’re spot on. Obama has lost a lot of voters over what he’s done. The polls I’ve seen are of all adults, not likely voters and without a demographic breakdown, etc.
The way you pivot off of ‘Obamacare’ is to simply pass a CR that is clean, citing Obama’s shenanigans as bad faith bargaining. Pin all the goofy stuff on Obama.
There’ve been a lot of ‘government shutdowns’ where people stayed at their desks and worked during the entire ‘shut down’. Via the Democratic Party inspired Sequester, we will win step by step. A new POTUS will change the priorities back to something normal.
Let Reid think he’s had his victory, let the Dems be magnanimous in victory (we’ve already won important concessions). Next up, debt ceiling limit.
