Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has reported that on three different occasions, Palestinian Authority TV has broadcast children reciting a poem that includes the words "my enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail."
Last week during a performance given in the PA, the Egyptian writer of the poem, Hesham El-Gakh, recited this and other poems, after which the PA Minister of Culture, Anwar Abu Eisheh, and PA District Governor of Ramallah, Laila Ghannam, awarded him a plaque of honor. The event was broadcast on official Palestinian Authority TV Live.
To warm up the audience, a young girl recited a small section from the same poem, the stanza including the words "my enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail":
"When I was young, I was taught that Arabness is my honor... and that our lands extend from one end to the other, and that our wars were for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that our enemy, Zion, is Satan with a tail, and that our nation's armies are outstanding," the poem read.

I hate these articles. That’s another minute of my life I’d like back.
Unless in Arabic it miraculously scans, alliterates, rhymes or otherwise finds a way to make sound express sense, it’s not even a poem. Personally, if I were Satan, I’d send the “poet” a rejection slip. Nothing but a run-on sentence, bald assertions, and one cliched image. Keep the day job, Ghaky.
I am truly surprised that the Israelis haven’t smuggled counter-propaganda into the Paleo areas. Basically it would say that Israelis aren’t the enemy of Paleos, that Paleos and Israelis could live together in peace, and that those who preach hate and violence do not serve Allah, but instead are servants of the devil.
Of course, when these ideas were distributed, the Paleo government would have kittens, but it would plant the seed of doubt among the Paleos themselves. Ideally it would be seen as “forbidden fruit, the truth they do not want you to see.”
Zion is a city in Lake Co., Illinois. I guess the high school football rivalries must be really intense there—the other schools really hate Zion.
I started to read this but when I found out PA was not Pennsylvania I went right to the comments.
Satan is the “god” of chaos, so the “poem” fits right in with him—that is what I meant (it is chaotic).
That would work great in a society where independent thinking is encouraged and has a long, honored tradition. But in Islamic society, you respect your elders, you respect your parents, you respect the Imam, you respect your father, and they tell you what to think, and anyone who says otherwise is a Zionist collaborator. The obvious advantage of the West in terms of technology, living standards, and freedom have made a lasting impression, especially after centuries of crushing defeats at the hands of westerners, so some free thought is occurring, such as Abu Toameh’s unabashedly non-anti-Israel columns in the Jerusalem Post, but life expectancy among free thinkers is not anything that would make an insurance underwriter happy.
Oh. Well put;-)
Are they playing opposite a PA team?
