Shutdown-The Audacity of Bureaucrats: how long will we stand for this?

What the heck is on in the mind of someone who thinks the very oceans must be closed if they are not there to administer proper enjoyment of it? This week, it's a pertinent question.

Part of the answer is that many bureaucrats are people who, deep down inside, know they can't achieve anything and/or are afraid to try. This is why they become bureaucrats in the first place. Why else would they agree to work in a cubicle each day, in a job with a very low ceiling, tasked with torturing the very businesses and taxpayers who support their pathetic vocation? Consider: bureaucrats -- and for this purpose I include the foot soldiers they dispatch to carry out their mischief -- are much like low level referees. They are given authority over people who are actually more accomplished than they are in a certain endeavor simply because of that cubicle, a PC, and books of regulations -- or perhaps some absurd badge on a cheap blue shirt and a government-issued sedan or pickup truck. It's their equivalent of the striped shirt and whistle.

Yes, I know, if you have a bureaucratic mindset, or are related to someone who has, you are horrified that I am generalizing.

Yes, I am. But it's okay to generalize when one is upfront about it. Naturally I am not talking about every single bureaucrat, but I assert that it's true of the majority, and, moreover, definitely symptomatic of how all government bureaucracies as a whole impact the rest of us, even if some good angels are part of these cubicle folk. Besides, after the past week of absurd closures and attempted closures as a result of the so-called shutdown, where many thousands of dutiful

The more I contemplate what a liberal is, the more I become convinced that, like Islam, the answer is easier than what we choose to believe: There is evil in the world.

Not misguided, not innocent with different beliefs, but a deliberate decision that goes against every grain of good in America.

Once this is understood, we citizens will know the real enemy and confront them.

One thing the government shutdown haw shown is that we could cut the number of government workers in half and do very, very well.

Even Park Rangers have devolved under Obama into storm trooper goons.

There is nothing you can do unless you can get a majority. It is very hard for us because of the media situation and it will be very hard if amnesty goes through. To many of us demand ideological purity and then the backstabbers like McCain and Graham are still around. We need very competent leaders and I question whether we have any of that either.

I would also add that the “bureaucratic mindset” is a key component of the liberal mindset. One of the real cancerous aspects of this mindset is A: how many liberals are really mind numbed and just accept the bureaucratic mindset without thinking .....but the real danger is that B: too many conservatives, who live their lives with respect to law and order, blindly comply. Hell, there’s even a huge “compliance industry” for business, teaching them how to be sheep.

Even Park Rangers have devolved under Obama into storm trooper goons.

It didn't happen by accident. Jonathan Jarvis, the Director of the National Park Service, is a total Obama toady.

Many laws are bad enough, but the laws are nothing compared to regulations written by Bureaucrats and not voted on by anyone.

They sit in their chairs and write a regulation and it has the authority of law .It was written by one prick who learned his trade sitting on his ass , not by doing.

You can beat the law, but you won’t beat the regulation, because they can write a new one faster than I can type this Post.

So so so true - I’ve said for years that “it’s the bureaucrats, stupid....” - more than the taxes, more than anything else....the real evil takes place “in the bureau” as Milton Friedman would say. And like always, he was right....

“One thing the government shutdown haw shown is that we could cut the number of government workers in half and do very, very well.”

Most government workers are “employed welfare.” The shutdown shows that what we really have is a government that has grown far too large, and is really only effective at growing further and destroying any opposition to it. It really doesn’t DO anything. Sounds kind of like cancer, doesn’t it?

stand for it? we created it. the only thing more irresponsible than our elected representatives in congress is the electorate.

"we, the people" send a true-blue redistributionist to the white house and put a strong core of small government conservatives in charge in the house, and then "we, the people" profess outrage and indignation in public opinion polls when "nothing gets done" -- whatever that means.

the very next question in the poll should be, "name three things that you want done".

That's how I've seen it for the last few years, like their brains have been taken over by an evil entity. Most of them are atheists, although many don't admit it. Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Joe Biden are good examples. They have no more belief in GOD than Richard Dawkins.

I sat at tax school one year with a great quantity of new rules regarding depreciation and there had been no legislation regarding this. I stood up and asked for the bureaucrats name, everyone laughed at me but I was serious.

Well, a lot in your short post, but first, they are not true Americans, not in the American spirit kind of way. Second, your point is well taken, but not by members of congress. Even many Repub members of congress look at govt wokers as "THEIR EMPLOYEES" and they try to 'take care of them' the way a private boss would try to keep a happy work force. This is of course NOT AT ALL what civil service should be, and not at all how members of congress ,especially conservtives, should look at government workers. The cancer is all the way thru the system.
