A high-profile case of a Belgian transsexual who chose to be killed by medical euthanasia after a sex-change operation turned him into a "monster" has highlighted the soaring number of people in the region electing to die this way – and has raised fresh questions over the controversial practice.
Nathan Verhelst, born Nancy, gave an interview to a local newspaper hours before his death this week citing his "unbearable psychological suffering" – rather than a terminal or degenerative physical illness – as his reason for dying voluntarily.
"When I looked in the mirror, I was disgusted with myself. My new breasts did not match my expectations and my new penis had symptoms of rejection. I do not want to be... a monster," Verhelst told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, referencing his double mastectomy and surgery to construct a penis last year.

This is scary and disgusting.
This person was not dying. In my mind whatever medical personnel were involved in this so-called “euthanasia” should be in prison.
As long as the state didn’t make the decision or force it...I say let them turn the lights out.
Maybe if he’d seen a shrink instead of a surgeon it would never have come to this.

So this thing is allowed to mutilate herself and when it goes wrong she/he opts to kill him/herself. Helluva world we got here.

Affirmatively participating in another person’s delusion will not cure their mental illness.

That’s terrible. Sounds like child abuse.

Well, yes it is... Is that what you want? Think about all of the alternatives. I can understand those that are terminally ill and dying but...

This is not much different than someone who thinks a job change or moving would solve their problems. Their problem is them and they are taking themselves with them where ever they go.
Trapped in a wrong body? Nonsense.
