National Park Service officials cited the government shutdown as the reason for ordering an elderly Nevada couple out of their home, which sits on federal land.
"Unfortunately overnight stays are not permitted until a budget is passed and the park can reopen," an NPS spokesman explained to KTNV.
Ralph and Joyce Spencer, aged 80 and 77, respectively, own their home, but the government owns the land on which it sits.
"I had to be sure and get his walker and his scooter that he has to go in," Joyce Spencer told the local news outlet. "We're not hurt in any way except it might cost me if I have to go buy more pants."
Similarly, the NPS forced privately-operated inns on the Blue Ridge Parkway to close during the shut down.

Never happen. Those tenants are his base,
so.. 0bama’s kicking old folks out of their homes in a hissy fit?
if you were unsure whether or not 0bama is a douche nozzle... i believe all doubt can now be discarded
The more ridiculous this gets, the it appears the national park employees are acting like union thugs trying to get their way. I’m sure Washington told them to close the parks, but they are going the extra step identifying people to hurt.
Good Point -- why haven't they been evicted???
[as if I really need to ask]
“He could evict all of the Section 8 tenants and those in federal housing projects!”
Whoa, albeit some of us are prepared to disuade bands of roaming urban outdoormen, not sure I could sustain an all out attck by 10s of thousands of them.
This is what happens when a spiteful, effeminate homosexual is combined with an America and American hating communist and secret Mudslime.

Cue the “That’s racist!” kid!
Have you thought about owning a Gatling?
Before I give a shi’ite I need to know are they registered Democrats or decent people..............
Just wait until he can shut your healthcare down.
Well this appears to be an isolated case and while I feel bad for the couple it is no worse than the private companies on federal land that have gotten the boot. At least the businesses appear to know their rights. Public space belongs to everyone. If you can’t own it you can’t occupy it. They have a right to camp wherever and whenever they want, without a permit. Hopefully these cases will start to get some traction.
Is that a fly on his lip?
Why, yes, it is.
I'm sure the voters can make life difficult for the public servants who forgot who they are supposed to serve. One reason for the protections federal employees have by law is that in theory they are non-partisan. If the federal employees, including NPS in particular, are shown to be just a partisan arm of the current administration, then they should, for example, be able to be fired by a new administration.
No doubt the voters can elect representatives who will change the laws governing the relationship between the federal employees and the rest of the public. In fact this shutdown was caused in part by the unwillingness of congressional staff members to be subject to the same health care mandate as everyone else.
Federal employees who implement partisan policies to "make life as difficult as we can" for the public shouldn't be surprised when the voters decide that they'd like to make the life of the federal employees a little less pleasant. After all, what better way is there to reduce our deficit than reducing the federal payroll and retirement costs?
He “should” evict all if he had a clue what the words hypocrite or selective enforcement meant.
But just think of the fun you’ll have trying. I can think of worse ways to go out.
