Still, I participated with a group of ~ 35 adults and WWII vets in the "Win the War" countermarch against the anti-war "2nd Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam" held in Washington, DC, on November 15, 1969. We were derided: trash, bottles, and curses were thrown at us to whole way. Our march finished up that day at Arlington at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
We would soon return ... 100,000 strong.
The next year I participated in two "March for Victory" rallies held on May 4, 1970 and October 3, 1970, and a third rally held on May 8, 1971 only days after John Kerry belched his "Winter Soldier" screed in front of Congress.
March for Victory in Vietnam, October 3, 1970
These were the folks who formed some of that "silent majority" in 1972 that gave Nixon the victory, that allowed him to bomb the shit out of Hanoi in December,1972 and that gave Peace - with Honor - a Chance in 1973!
As a young teen it was great to be able to stand-up for America and against domestic communists.
