This is what all representatives of US citizens should be doing—Getting in the face of unaccountable beaureaucrats and reminding them exactly who they work for.
Perhaps you can tell us what "law" requires spending money to close off open air monuments and place guards on them.
I’m just saying she was doing her duty as she understands it. She has nothing to do with setting policy.
I would have told the federal employee the same thing. She should feel ashamed.
There is a time when your own humanity and morals has to trump “following orders”. The congressman did not tell her not to follow orders. He did not break the law. He told her she should feel ashamed.
This what we should all be doing in the face of Obama’s war on American citizens.
The side of me that’s retired, and waiting for orders thinks you’re right. But that’s easy for me to say.
She might easily lose her job, on the other hand, though the effort may be noble, may make it tough on her family.
Would you sacrifice your job? Do you think we’re really at that level yet?
It does seem like we could be. But is that really what we want?
