Why are you and I paying for two meals a day for her children? You can't tell me that their parents don't already receive food stamps, welfare, government cheese, WIC, food bank groceries and lord knows what else!

I was raised in a generation when parents supplied all three meals.

Tampa Bay area groups dependent on federal funds were concerned that with the shutdown dragging on, they could eventually run out of money.

In Hernando County, the Head Start program provides schooling and food services to hundreds of children. While the group expects to have enough funds to stay open next week, it's not sure after that.

"This is not just we take our kids to day care for the day. This is my kids are not going to get two meals a day," said Elizabeth Hustead, a family and planning manager for the program....

This is precisely what is wrong with this country. Dependent upon the Feds for meals for children? This is ridiculous and must stop. The Federal Government has encouraged this dependency for a reason, and it is well past time to put an end to it forever, IMO.

Why are we feeding the children when that is a parent’s responsibility. Another system set up by the leftist goose stepping idiots. No answers only lip service to the public sector.

I assumed it was for all the hot lunches served in school cafeterias, no? Something else?

I’ll be looking for the stories of children dying of starvation in a few days.

Not.

Give them oatmeal—its cheap. Its filling too! Maybe an orange or an apple—no more pizzas and cany bars.

Me too..& it was not that long ago :)

I remember there were a few kids that had lunch vouchers. Not many but the majority of us brought our lunches.

I have a friend who’s a 2nd grade teacher in a mostly hispanic school..she said during lunch, Mom’s swarm the school to have lunch with their kids & bring the smaller ones with them. They basically all share the free lunch, the Mom’s divvy up the food with the younger brood. Our tax $ at work!

So the parents can’t get their lazy asses up and make their kid a bowl of oatmeal or pack them a sandwich for lunch?

I’m sure we pay for the daycare too.

Given that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend to provide “free” lunches to school children, the funds for such a program should never have left the state.

And the reason that we don’t hear Florida state lawmakers raising this point is because they probably don’t the Constitution that they swore to protect and defend any better than the low-information voters who elected them.

Get a job, and Pau for the spawn that exist because you couldn’t keep your legs crossed.

it is the parents’ job to feed their kiddies,
NOT the fed govt’s
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where the hell are the da**ed parents if their kids are hungry!?

(besides, the kids don’t like the govt food... much of it gets thrown right into the garbage bin... kids have never cared for the govt’s infamous Mystery Meat and they despise Michelle’s meddling or trying to sneak Broccoli into their jello...)

Elizabeth, dear, feed your children. Why am I feeding them?

Schooling? Indoctrinate into the herd, and crush any idea individualism.

"This is not just we take our kids to day care for the day. This is my kids are not going to get two meals a day," said Elizabeth Hustead, a family and planning manager for the program.

Yes, Elizabeth, Head Start is much better because it's free day care, and a bus will pick your child up at your door. Head Start does not benefit the children.
