National Park Service rangers are being ordered to make life difficult during the government shutdown, according to the Washington Times.
After the shutdown began, park police have been barring tourists from a number of popular attractions nationwide, including the WWII memorial. Even privately-owned landmarks, such as Mount Vernon, are being told by the National Park Service to close their doors.
The Times reported: The Park Service appears to be closing streets on mere whim and caprice. The rangers even closed the parking lot at Mount Vernon, where the plantation home of George Washington is a favorite tourist destination. That was after they barred the new World War II Memorial on the Mall to veterans of World War II. But the government does not own Mount Vernon; it is privately owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association. The ladies bought it years ago to preserve it as a national memorial. The feds closed access to the parking lots this week, even though the lots are jointly owned with the Mount Vernon ladies. The rangers are from the government, and theyre only here to help.

Yet they WILL NOT fence our own Southern Border to keep out invaders and we have even ordered and paid for these fences!
Not even Bill Clinton sunk so low during the shutdown during his administration!
How low can even he go????
Stalin, Chairman Mao, Pol Pot, Kim Young IL, the Mullahs in Muslim countries.
Is Obama even meaner than them???
At the same time, the one Park Policeman I saw on duty was, rather sheepishly, telling the numerous tourists that were milling around the memorial that the "memorial is closed, unless you are here to exercise First Amendment rights," or words to that effect. The Park Policeman was no thug; he seemed a bit put out by the rather obvious crap assignment he'd been given, and, apart from his repeating his "the memorial is closed" spiel, he wasn't giving anybody a hard time, or actually trying to make anybody leave, while I was observing, anyhow.
It was a pretty bizarre scene, in some respects. And fitting, I suppose, for this Administration.
It’s long past time to impeach this mofo, and this is as good a reason as any to do so.
Is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier still being guarded by the Old Guard? That would be interesting to know. Bet that it is regardless of pay, since the cemetery itself is managed by Dept of the Army, but the Guard IS the Army and paid.
Film them, mock them, social media them. Repeat as needed.
There’s nothing like the old First Amendment to shake a government.
Arlington National Cemetery is open— it is run by the US Dept of the Army and the Old Guard are on the job.
Imagine obamaumao trying to shut that down.
“Politicization of the NPS is a step too far.”
This has been a slow ongoing process for years, starting about the mid-90’s where our save-the-earth types, the tree huggers and green weenies got entry level jobs in the NPS. They willing flock to the NPS, for like the EPA, this is where they can make a difference.
These people are now in upper management positions. They now hire only their kind and are willing accomplices to any of this crap going on now.
Whose name is on the order? We know who is responsible but who is the one who had to make the actual order?
Has any park ranger ever done anything but be a thug harassing good people?
LOL! I’d love to one of those vets kick 0 square in the pants.
Watch for a false flag operation from zero... something that he will blame on the conservatives and the Tea Party.
Park Rangers were some of the first jack booted thugs. Most of them are greenies and no way should they be allowed to carry firearms.
Sounds likely. Their personal authority is now greatly diminished in my mind.
Apparently not in the last month. In the 50's and 60's they were more accepting of diversity.

Even better is widespread civil disobedience. Remember what the brave people of Cairo achieved against Morsi.
Outside of DC just what part of the Constitution said the federal government could take State lands as its own in the first place? If they can take 1 acre they can take the whole State. They literally could, under this interpretation, take all States and effectively erase the States from existence.
Where are the decent employees that would tell them to F OFF?
I know people freak out over the possibility of losing a job. I’ve quit good jobs over BS and will never hesitate to do so. Always got another one or, as I am now, went freelance.
