The problem is that the smart kids will still figure it out. It will just serve to make the not-as-smart kids fall farther behind, further enhancing the inherent unfairness of our society.

The CC math questions I've seen DO seem DELIBERATELY designed to frustrate children. Math can be taught in a much more straightforward manner than this (see my previous post).

I agree. My brother had a daughter having a difficult time with basic math. He taught her the way he learned, with all the traditional simple tables and a series of simple problems to understand the concepts. She finally got it, but it took parental involvement and a traditional approach. Whatever "Common Core" is, it doesn't teach kids math, IMHO.
