OK, so the headline and first part of the article say she MAY have thought Obama was stalking her. She also MAY have panicked after hitting a barricade when she realized people were firing at her with her baby in the car, and MAY not have understood how to flee from that situation in the nightmare that is called driving around DC.
Time was when a journalist would have offered some type of justification for that claim. These news reports sound like the kind of presumptions people would throw out while yapping at the local tavern.
Yes, it shouldn't have been printed without corroboration. But, "journalists" are just repeating unnamed sources now, without bothering to even apply a "laugh test".
This particular article cites "law enforcement". But, I read another article earlier today that quoted the woman's boyfriend. I couldn't dig it up quickly, but my impression is that she may have gotten "freaked out" over all the recent revelations about domestic spying by the NSA.
If you are already teetering on the edge of reality, there have been many things in the past few weeks that would feed paranoid delusions. That may be what happened to this poor woman.
It's a shame she didn't get the medical help she needed, but after someone reaches a certain point, they may consider doctors to be their "enemy" as well. And, it's now very difficult to commit someone against their will.
