Nah, they just wanted people to be unhappy even though they didn’t realize they don’t spend a dime to keep it open - none of these closures are cost savers - really, how much did they want to save by closing open areas?
I wonder which MORON came up with the plan to barricade it? It is well known that Mount Vernon is privately owned, and always has been. How did they sit there and decide to send NPS goons there to close off access? And the NPS people ought to have known it is private property too.
