I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but moved to California when only a few weeks old. Luckily, I did not receive the pleasure of shoveling snow and walking to school in multiple layers of clothing. I was raised in sunny Mission Viejo, California where the seed for my passion to become an educator was planted through my educational experiences from elementary school through high school. Upon graduation from high school I attended The University of Arizona with Elementary Education as my focus. I taught 5th grade for 3 years in Tucson upon graduating. I then moved to Phoenix to better accomplish a few of my professional and personal goals. While teaching in Chandler, I attended night school through Northern Arizona University for a few years in order to obtain a master's degree in Elementary Education. I then was accepted into Arizona State University's D.E.L.T.A. Doctoral program which focused on educational leadership. Once I earned my doctorate, and, after ten years of being in the classroom, I made the choice to pursue an educational position that would allow me to maintain my passion for teaching and learning, but in a different context; that being in the position of instructional leader.
