Many libertarians are non-party oriented as well despite the existence of the Libertarian Party. There are various Independent parties too, but you say you’re not affiliated with those parties. I accept that distance.
There’s a party for every conceivable political slant. But the terms independent, conservative, libertarian, liberal, and statist all have specific non-party meaning. You use two of the terms to describe your political orientation; independent & conservative. It’s equally valid to combine conservative & libertarian to mean very small govt and traditional values. The fact you reject that combination is inconsequential given the definitive meaning of the terms.
No I don't, I am a conservative, that is how I describe myself, anyone not registered to a party is an independent, it doesn't say anything at all about politics or any orientation.
Its equally valid to combine conservative & libertarian to mean very small govt and traditional values.
No it isn't. A small government traditional values guy would be a conservative, now if he was liberal on social issues, then he could be either a libertarian, or a rino, depending on some various nuances.
People who are libertarian on social issues can't be called conservatives, and that is what libertarian means, when someone tells you that they are libertarian they aren't distancing themselves from conservative, small government economics, they are making a statement to distance themselves from traditional values, social conservatism.
