Well, ultimately I have a gospel view of things. Politics is one arena in which this story plays out, but it’s not the only one or even the most important one.

God promised to save all willing people. God never promised to save political entities. The Old Testament living illustrations were just that, illustrations. They don’t translate directly into the New Testament which is God getting one on one with individual humans to be their individual Savior, not just with an identified holy race (though that race, the Jews, does carry on by God’s promise).

However if enough willing people are saved (and God can arrange for them to be there, in His mind boggling omnipotence) then the land will be blessed through their numbers. Early America had this fortunate situation.

So I am answering the question of what to do with political parties with “Get out the evangelism!” And most modern evangelism UNDERsells heaven. Heaven is more like full of dynamite than cotton candy.

Serious Christians will understand.

That is exactly the meaningless type posts that libertarians post over.

Conservatism is not statism, being against abortion and immigration and homosexuals in the military, gay marriage, gay marriage in the military, protecting traditional marriage, is traditional values and common sense and all American.

Libertarians won’t defend those positions here, or usually even admit to them, so they just rage at conservatives about being “statists” as though that explains political positions and choices.

That is why the libertarians resort to personal attacks and insults, they cannot speak openly and plainly about the current political battles over social issues, they can’t tell which side they agree with on particular issues.

Being liberal on social issues is the statist position, the more the culture degrades and becomes libertarian on social issues, the farther left we move, it leads to greater numbers of liberal voters, not fewer.

What is mush is your mind, though folks are attempting to help you solidify it.

God did not die on a cross to give us nice convenient morality for our worldly living. In fact in a great paradox, a nice, moral mortal coil is itself a temptation against the gospel which is about riches of an eternal kind. Ultimately the Christian offer of help shouldn’t be seen as the aspirations of a busybody. That violates the free choice nature of God’s love.

Of course God knows all the parameters. Early America was much more “moral” because there was much more biblical, if not starkly Christian, belief. So to the people wrangling over forms of government I give them an answer they don’t want, but desperately need: EVANGELIZE.

There are 2 flavors of statism here: left statism and right statism.

Thanks for starting with a personal attack, it is a great lead in to preaching about Christian faith.

As a Christian, you vote for the politics that represent your positions on social issues, and as a Christian I will vote for the politics that represent mine.

For instance I don’t support politicians that support recognition of gay marriage in the military.

Does the “statism” of traditional American conservatives include abortion and the homosexual agenda and restraining immigration?

It includes different ills, which are also man-centered (and ultimately Satan centered).

And not so trivially — we are talking about a more and more gospel-bereft “Right.”

Why would I want to help an organization that even you admit has been taken over by "RINO"s?

Yeah, that Reagan what a dumbass, thinking he could beat the RINO's of his day, become president, and make the country better......

Great, another flurry of posts that don’t really say anything that makes sense or is relevant, but angry and emphatic they will be.

Reagan left office almost twenty-five years ago.

And it’s been downhill for the Republican Party ever since.

I’m surprised you haven’t noticed.

Yeah, it was twenty years from Ike to Reagan, so what?

The principle is the same. He never gave up, unlike some silly loser of a third party candidate around here.

Oh, and I've noticed Ted Cruz didn't join some asinine little party either.......

Hey, if you want to keep supporting folks who couldn’t care less what you believe or think, who just use you as a pawn to aggrandize their own power, that’s your business.

And where I put my support is mine.

>> Conservatism is not statism,

Never said it was. To the contrary, I’ve been making the distinction between conservatism and the enforcement nature of statism.

>> Libertarians won’t defend those [conservative] positions here,

To the contrary, the libertarians here do so regularly.

>> That is why the libertarians resort to personal attack

That would be responding to personal attacks.

Why they are completely relevant, because there is a God and because God means what He says.

Your kampf is going to fail without God. F-A-I-L. You say you hate the murder plague known as abortion so? Well the plague came because people forgot that humans were hallowed to the Lord.

I am angry all right. I am angry at navel gazing tail chasers like you who will NOT see the light of the Lord, and thereby remain part of the problem rather than part of the solution.

In the meantime, is it OK with you if we still choose to vote conservative?

Oh vote anyone you please! But that will be playing in a sandbox compared to the heavy construction work that needs to be done. GIT-R-DONE with Jesus.

First as far as their trait of personal attacks, go look at your first posts to me, and some others, including one where the guy jumped on the thread to post an attack, put out his ping list, and then left because the thread didn’t interest him, just the personal attack did, the mods removed that one.

Libertarians do not openly defend their (liberal) pro-abortion ,pro-gay, etc. positions here, but they do rage at we conservatives who oppose them.

Conservative positions used to be the law, and the state was smaller, but as we became more libertarian on social issues the government naturally grew and the people became more dependent and voted for yet more government, it is the cycle that social liberalism/libertarianism creates, it makes it impossible for conservative economics and smaller government.

I like threads like this one. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2981786/posts

And as a matter of fact, the libertarians (libertarians in strict political theory, I do not mean leftist nannies who would do things like yoke governments into approving homosexual pseudo-marriages) will get in Jesus’ way a little less badly than your gospel-poor Moral Majoritarians will. Because you have hold of a tail and are trying to wag a dog by it. The early church thrived in the middle of a very libertine society which went beyond anything envisioned by libertarians today. And astonishing miracles of God’s provision and astonishing conversion of wicked nonbelievers followed this church until Satan offered it stewardship of a government... which it took. And the gospel was never held in the same stature since.
