If Strom Thurman’s filibuster record was 24 hours how is 21 hours not a filibuster?
Rand Paul’s filibuster was like what, 10 hours? And the media still called it a filibuster.
I don’t get it.
When necessary, libs are willing to follow strict legal definitions, even though they don’t follow the law if they don’t like it.
A Philly Buster requires that their be a pending bill on the floor which is being blocked, and that was not technically the case for Cruz.
Who cares what we call it - it had a huge impact!
I would like to see them filibuster every proposal the House sends, just to make the dems squirm more.
“glitches” is an official White Hut talking point!
the difference is mechanics...when Strom and Rand did their thing...nothing could happen til they were done
with Cruz, he had to be done by the following day, noon
A filibuster is to delay voting on a bill. TC’s 21hr soliloquy was overnite and the bill’s vote was the next morning, so technically it didn’t delay it, since Dingy Harry cut him off and he yielded to the vote. DBMs like to use filibuster since it sounds ‘obstructionist’ and illegal. Smoke and mirrors BS from lib-dem scum.
