Cracks are starting to emerge among House Republicans on their government funding strategy.
A handful of Republicans in the lower chamber on Tuesday embraced a clean continuing resolution (CR): Reps. Pat Meehan (Pa.), Jon Runyan (N.J.), Scott Rigell (Va.), Mike Fitzpatrick (Pa.) and Frank Wolf (Va.).
They joined Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) and GOP New York Reps. Pete King and Michael Grimm, who endorsed a clean CR earlier this week. A "clean" bill would not include provisions to delay or defund ObamaCare, and is supported by the White House and Senate Democrats.
In a Tweet, Meehan stated, I came to DC to fix gov't, not shut it down. Its time for House to vote for a clean, short-term funding bill to bring Senate to the table.

they are getting an earful now LOL
Add my congresscritter, Randy Forbes (4th-VA) to the list of defectors.
Where are the conservative voters in these districts? If they all back Obama, why aren’t they Democrats? There is no advantage in caving to the Democrats now. These quislings will be wined and dined in the Obamedia, but they should be excluded from the caucus because they cannot be trusted.
Pat Meehan is a Romney-driven RINO who demands
RomneyCARE and RomneyMarriage be enforced on all.
I hope this was in the calculus when Cruz et al started down this road. BTW, if the GOP does end up signing a ‘clean’ CR, they NEED to strip out the Senate Ryders in the current CR - fair is fair.
I think this is going well.
Obamacare for all the opposition on this board, has some good qualities.
I am glad it passed. (I know, but I am)
That said, our government is WAY, WAY, WAY too big and too expensive.
GOP hold the line. We need to shrink government a lot.
Now.
At the same time, we need to BRING BACK US BUSINESSES TO AMERICA.
That is the part nobody is talking about right now.
If we’re going to control the cost of government, we need jobs for the people.
Brink back US jobs.
Old news, trying to exacerbate a rift. As of last evening the resolve in the house is strong. Peter kings clean CR plan is dead.
Individual spending bills will pass today, further weakening Reid and company
R’s look reasonable D’s look like obstructive bastards.
Keep up the pressure folks!
The 2nd shutdown in 1995 lasted about 3 weeks. Stopped by Bob Dole. I doubt this one will make it half as long given we have two Bob Doles and no Newt.
I sure hope you’re right.
Thankfully, the house is run like a dictatorship and not a democracy so it doesn't really matter if a majority of members (all the democrats and a few traitor Republicans)want a "clean" CR, if the leadership doesn't schedule a vote on it, it doesn't happen. So far the leadership doesn't seem to be budging (be thankful for small miracles)....
If the Senate hasn’t come to the table so far and that alone has about got the House GOP spitting up the bit, why would a short-term CR make them any more willing to negotiate?
What are the good qualities of Obamacare that make you back it?
I would bet the house that a lot of these cats constituents are what you would call non-essential personal. You know, six figure welfare recipients.
I very much like the fact we now have a fall-back plan, that anyone on America can use to cover their costs.
Regardless of medical history.
I think that is a very valuable addition to American medical care.
I think the fact it got a lot of attention is good, and I like the way this is playing out so far.
Stand firm GOP.
That's why he was so irate after the senate loss, he knew he was washed up at that moment.
You think the financial burdens of Obamacare are going to help bring jobs back here? I bet Chinese companies and the manufacturing centers ‘taking’ our jobs don’t have the onerous regulations and burdens that companies do here. Obamacare just multiplied that. Tack on huge new expenses for every hire. Punih companies for hiring full time employees and punish growing companies when they hit 50 employees. Sounds like a good plan to create jobs.
Amen! I never thought that they would last this long. But good for them.
In other words, gie the Obamabastard exactly what he wants.
Peter King is possibly the dumbest man in Congress. He is right there with Joe Loserman and Dollar Bill Bradley in the I.Q. department.
