The Dems love power and when they’re stymied they don’t have a deep game. It’s Obama’s ruin. He comes from hyperliberal Hyde Park, Chicago, Cook County, IL - it’s Dem on Dem on Dem. He doesn’t know how to negotiate. He’s never had to. Everything here is a deal, a trick. DC is big league and Boehner’s Speaker for a reason.
I know he’s not liked, but maybe 1/1000 FReepers know what it’s like to herd cats. Leadership is hard and you have to think long term all the while fighting a short term game.
So far, I really like what the plan is. There is obvious coordination between the House’s RSC and the Senate conservatives. It’s being well played.
People don’t realize that the Dems are the ones running out of cards quickly. Their constituency is government. How long can they hold out?
Leadership is hard. But it's also perfectly natural to wonder where this leadership was on any of a dozen other issues in the past.
Party discipline is a worry for me on this. Like you, I like the strategy but I do wonder if the leadership and whips will work as hard to keep moderates in tow as they do to flog conservatives. But if they can keep it together, Zero's governing power can be crippled.
Boehner IS doing right by us this time.
Letting the RINOs hide from a vote on the Senate’s CR is something I’ve criticized, but he’s much smarter to do that for them so they can vote for these mini-bills. And bringing them up again in regular order so a majority can pass them means the media will have to report them.
Many here are wondering what the catch is in what Boehner’s doing or, like me, wondering where this guy has been LOL!
Boehner got Obama to cut the growth in spending, NOT raise taxes on 99% of Americans, and do the sequester.
I know many here hate him, but he's got a terrifically tough job (so easy to criticize when one is not in charge) and I appreciate his not giving Obama everything and his grace under pressure.
I would think the way they forced ObamaCare on us took a very deep game plan, and a little help from a traitorous GOPe.
