China is the red line and I would suspect that this was not a real good idea.
China has a very long history of dealing with Muslims - Mongols, to be more specific.
Given a chance, they would happily “deprive of existence” all Muslims in China.
Hmmn - will the Chinese see this mortar attack as teh start of a modern day Spanish Civil War? One can hope.
