Senate Democrats on Tuesday rejected negotiating with the House on government funding, leaving no clear path for ending the federal shutdown that began overnight. The Senate voted 54-46 to table a House request for a conference committee on a continuing resolution (CR), marking the third time that Democrats have voted down legislation from the lower chamber since Monday. "The government is closed," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said. "All over America federal employees are getting furloughs this morning … because of the irrationality that is going on in the other side of the Capitol." Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

Dear Dingy:

Go pull McConnell out from under his desk where he is hiding and pass a real budget generated by the House.

It's simple really.

Fine with me. Keep the federal government “shut down” and sequestered until the end of this administration. Then repeal Obamacare entirely ASAP.

You know, the dems could pass the republican continuing resolution without Obamacare funding, then introduce an actual appropriations bill specifically for the Obamacare act. You know, like we did back when we followed the constitution and had a budget every year?

That would completely avoid any shutdown and would be legal to boot.

Maybe they think they’d lose if forced to actually follow the constitution.

Reid to GOP :
Here's what I give you for a CR : NOTHING.
Not even repealing the device tax. I have you GOP fools by the gonad's now, right where I want you, and I will make you squirm. By the time I am done with you voters will think you molested their children. You will BEG me to accept a clean CR”

They’d have found a way....while “stating” that they deeply respected the Jewish people.

290 percent increase In Insurance Premiums In Tennessee?

if any other states come in with Higher Increases we will have to begin referring to obama’s little stunt as ZIMBABWECARE

The timing for this is actually pretty good, in retrospect.

Today, people can actually go to the exchanges and see what they are going to get from Obamacare. No more smoke and mirrors.

I don't think they will be pleased. And, maybe some of them will finally get why the Republicans are opposed to this.

Of course, that requires that the exchanges actually function, unlike this morning. But, I don't think the GOP should give up yet. Let people "shop" for health care and find out the truth for themselves.

excellent.

you might enjoy calling your blue state leftist rep and congratulating them on the shutdown (mine is lofgren). the staffer was stunned to hear my obvious glee.

i couldn’t get through to cantor or boehner to congratulate them on the shutdown though.

very enjoyable.

Seems the Democrats are accepting full responsibility for the “shutdown” (such as it is) by their actions. Probably they figure Boehner will come to them on his knees telling them the Republicans were just kidding, and give them everything they want.

They might be right.

Obama is no Bill Clinton. The last Shutdown Showdown was masterfully turned against the Republicans, but Obama is incapable of effectively hammering the other side like Clinton could.

Reid is a total embarrassment as a spokesman for Dims. The MSM will recycle Clinton's old talking points for a few days, but Obama/Reid refusing to “talk” just sounds arrogant and incompetent.

The Emperor has no clothes; he's becoming a punchline, and his distractions from unpopular programs like Obamacare are backfiring faster and faster now.

Seems the Democrats are accepting full responsibility for the “shutdown” (such as it is) by their actions.

A few days of push polls featured on NBC-BS, CBS-BS, ABC-BS, not to mention the New York Crimes, the San Francisco Comical, the Boston Glob and others and they will have 60% of the Low Information Public convinced that the Republicans are the villains here.

The other 40% of the LIPs are too busy watching "Dancing with the Stars" and other "reality" shows to be bothered.

This is just hilarious...

Reid and other Democrats said if the House would first pass a “clean” funding bill, then they would be willing to enter negotiations on a longer-term measure.

OK the commies want the House to hand them 100% of what they are demanding.

Then they will negotiate...

On what?

They just got 100% of what they are demanding.

When the next "red line" is reached they will start whining about how "it was ok last time" and demand that the republicans do it again.

Give them 100%.

This is no different than this...

April 19, 2012
"Here is an apparently common scene today from the U.S. Senate’s first session to attempt to mark up a budget for the first time in almost three years (we’re nearly a week away from the official anniversary of the last time the Democratic Party-controlled body acted to do so, as they are required to do by law):

Take a guess which side belongs to all those empty chairs.

Time to tell the kindergarten class NO.

They are going to make every accusation of evildoing possible anyway.

The mouthpiece media will support the whiners anyway.

Giving in to their demands will not cause a single democrat to switch their vote.

Giving in to them will cause millions to not bother to vote for the republicans.

There is nothing here that is in any way difficult to understand.

.
